How’s that going?
Are you bored of juicing yet, or have you already tossed your gym membership? I know plenty of people that have, and quite honestly I don’t blame them for giving up. It’s hard to change who you are.
In fact, you actually can’t.
The reason a lot of people fail at the ‘new year, new you’ thing is that, quite simply, you can’t change the intrinsic YOU-ness that you possess. It should be ‘new year, better you’ because that’s implying improvement, and not implying that whatever you do this year is simply going to erase everything that has happened in the past.
You have been ‘you’ since the day you were born. Nothing can actually change that. You can change your clothes, hair, even your face, but you will still be YOU. A different version of ‘you’, certainly, but still, deep down, you. Even if you pretend to be someone else, and totally change your outward personality, inside you will always be You.
My personal view is that you are you, but you can strive to be the best you that you can be. You can get a more flattering haircut. You can become fitter, if you wish, or lose weight. You can achieve anything you want to, but you will still be you. And if you’re happy with yourself then great, don’t change anything.
I think Dr Seuss summed it up best:
‘Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no-one alive who is You-er than you.’
Just remember, you should be the best You possible.
