It’s literally baking outside right now. I don’t function very well in the heat. My ancestors were mountain people – think the Alps, Italy/Austria border – and the plain fact is my entire family does not cope in this weather.
It’s fine indoors. We have fans, and the house is nice and cool because we have trees behind it which makes it nice and shady. Problem is when we have to step outside.
I had to go and pick up a clock I ordered from Vale Furnishers today (if you’re local to Ash Vale in Surrey, do go and have a look, they really have some excellent home decor options) and walking the ten yards from the car to the shop was hell. Sainsburys afterwards wasn’t much better, as we had to park in a corner of the car park. It was busy!
My choice of outfit when the weather is like this is pretty important. It has to be cool. And I don’t mean trendy cool, I mean temperature cool. In horribly warm weather, I favour floaty fabrics and dresses. It’s so much easier to throw on a simple sundress than have to think about matching outfit components when it’s over 30 degrees outside.
So today I wore this:
This is one of my favourite dresses. I’ve had it for years, and I have yet to find another summer dress that’s as easy to wear on a very hot day.
What about you, fellow Brits? How are you dressing on Heatwave Monday?
