Product Reviews: My Elemis Shopping Spree

Ok, so maybe not a spree. But I ran out of my trusty Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and I had to restock, and when I went on the Elemis site I saw they were doing a free gift with any purchase over £80, so of course I had to claim the free gift.

I’m a regular buyer on the Elemis site, and this time I went for the supersize 100ml special edition of the Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. It’s been produced in connection with Breast Cancer Care, and when you buy it, you have the option to donate to the charity as well, which of course I did. Breast cancer runs in my family so it’s a cause close to my heart. The supersize one costs £99 plus your donation to the charity if you choose to make one, and it will last for a good long while because it’s so big. Here it is held in my average size hand for reference.

The free gift was some travel sizes of the Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (always handy to have for my travel bag), the Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream (never tried it), the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm (again, never tried it) and a little cosmetics pouch to keep them in.

I also got to pick another freebie to try out with my order so I went for the travel-size Hydra-Boost Serum. Hydra-anything appeals to those of us cursed with dry skin, and I’ve heard good things about the Hydra-Boost range.

It arrived the day after I ordered it and opening the box was like Christmas. I love getting deliveries from Elemis because you know it’s going to be a plain, boring box but when you open it, it will be full of wonderful things.

So here is what arrived:

I’ve taken the big Pro-Collagen Marine Cream out of its packaging for this shot, but look what the special edition packaging is:

Isn’t it gorgeous? This would make a lovely gift for someone. You get a little spatula as well to help you apply the right amount.

And the tub on its own is a thing of beauty. The lid is chromed and the little details of the pink ribbon motif just adds to the gorgeous look of the product. Elemis packaging really does let you know that you’re getting a quality, luxury product, and that goes for the whole range.

So what do I think about the products I’ve not used before, here grouped with the mini Pro-Collagen Marine Cream because they came as a set.

Well, I am very impressed!

Let’s start with the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. It’s a teeny tiny tub, here in my hand for reference, but there is going to be a bigger one of these on my shelf very shortly.

It’s wonderful. Begone all my other cleansing products (except my micellar water and eye makeup remover), this has topped you all. It removed all my makeup in one wash and my skin felt so, so clean and not even remotely dry after I used it. It’s magnificent. Elemis, you have done it again. My skin thanks you.

My skin also thanks you for the Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream, which feels very, very light when I apply it, and not at all greasy when it’s sitting on my skin. As with any new cream my skin is taking a while to get used to it, but so far so good. It’s made my skin nice and soft (which as I am the queen of dryness, I like a lot) and I think the more I use it, the better my skin will get.

The Hydra-Boost Serum is a bit… well, I think I need to use it more. I didn’t like the texture when I applied it because I’m used to my Estee Lauder serum, but it felt okay once it had sunk into my skin. I’m kind of ‘meh’ about it but I don’t think I’ve given it enough of a chance – I have enough left for another week and I will keep using it instead of my usual serum to see if there is a difference. I am wondering if a Pro-Collagen range serum might work better, now that I am going to switch to the night cream along with the day cream. We will see – minds can be changed the longer things are used for!

I’m very happy with my Elemis purchases. They’re a brand I love and that works for my skin so well. And with the weather on the turn from summer into the cold and wet of autumn, my skin is very happy to have tried and found a few new products to carry it through the season.

(I was not paid to review these products – these are my personal opinions!)
