I recently started subscribing to Glossybox, because I like to spoil myself and I enjoy getting presents every month. Purely selfish reasons! I was subscribed to Birchbox but after two months on the trot of pretty naff products, I decided to switch. I’ve been impressed with the Glossyboxes I’ve had so far, but had no desire to review them, but October’s was particularly nice and I wanted to share.
This month, you either got a Mermaid or Unicorn themed box, and I got the Mermaid one.
First off, it’s a really beautiful box. Now I’ve emptied it of the contents, I’ve re-used it as a storage box for all those Santa faces you saw in last week’s Christmas post (and other Christmas card supplies – it’s a perfect size). I don’t normally keep boxes but the Glossyboxes are actually a sensible size and sturdy enough to be used as a storage box or even as a gift box if you decoupage the outside to hide the branding.
Anyway, when I opened the box, I was impressed with how pretty the packing inside was. I undid the ribbon from its bow before I took a photo (boo!) but it was done up all lovely in a little bow, it really was. Look how nice the tissue paper is this month! It matches the box! Glossybox certainly know how to present stuff well.
The contents of this box are fab. Contained within the gorgeous packaging was:
- Sleek Makeup Creme to Powder Blush
- Kawaii Enterprise Brush Cleaning Egg
- Lord & Berry Magic Brow Perfect Eye Brow Pencil
- Bang Beauty Cream Colour
- Makeup Revolution Mermaids vs Unicorns Eyeshadow Palette
The only brand I’d heard of before getting this box was Lord & Berry so the rest of it was a mystery to me. I love the look of the eyeshadow palette, although the colours aren’t generally ones I’d wear, but I’ll give them a try. I’m more of a browns and golds girl when it comes to eye makeup. Maybe it’s time to branch out.
The Sleek blush isn’t quite the right colour for me, so that’s being gifted to a friend of mine who does have the right skin tone. The Bang Beauty Cream Colour is a nice lip stain, so I’m keeping hold of that. The Lord & Berry pencil is a good match to my eyebrows so I’ll be trying that out this week.
And as for the Kawaii Enterprise Egg…
That’s really a Wonderful Thing. I should have had one of these in my life a long, long time ago. I’ll be doing a full review of the Egg on Wednesday so check back for what I thought about this. The Egg is also suitable for use as a cat toy – it’s Dobby-approved! I’m keeping that well out of his way, he was batting it around my dressing table!
So all in all, it was a really lovely box this month, with some great products that will get a lot of use. It’s nice to find new products from brands I’ve not heard of, which is half the reason I subscribed in the first place. Where I live, it’s hard to find some of the smaller or more obscure brands. The problem then is that I get a product in the box, like it, and then can’t find it to buy afterwards! My town needs to up its game.
Are any of you Glossybox subscribers? If you are, let me know what you thought about this month’s box!
