April Empties Post

Having seen ’empties’ videos on YouTube, I thought I’d share some of my ’empties’ with the readers of my blog. I will never do YouTube, so you’re stuck with my text opinions on my empties!

Sanctuary Radiance Exfoliator

I love this product. It’s one of the best exfoliators out there for my skin, and I need to search out another tube now this one has been finished up. It always leaves my skin looking and feeling really polished, which for someone whose skin leans towards dry and flaky, is a good thing.

The product itself is brown and has natural exfoliating ‘bits’ in it rather than the nasty plastic beads. Better for the environment and better for my skin.

I’ll definitely be buying this again if I can, although the Nip & Fab exfoliator I’ve been using since this one ran out is also a good one. If I can find another tube of this, there’s my May Head To Head right here!

Botanics All Bright Micellar Cleansing Solution

This came out of a Glossybox, and I loved it from first use. It’s a big bottle, so it’s taken me a while to get through it, but I’ve gone and bought a second one because I like it so much.

Unlike some other micellar waters, this one doesn’t sting my skin. I don’t know why, but a lot of the micellar waters on the market really make my skin feel odd. This one, however, doesn’t. It’s ‘soft’, if that makes sense – there’s not much scent and it doesn’t feel like it’s stripped the skin after use.

It’s great at removing makeup as well. The only thing that defeated it was the Kat von D Tattoo Liner, but to be fair to it in my experience everything but an oil-based remover gets defeated by that liner. I do love this product, and it’s not too expensive either.

If you’re in the UK and fancy giving it a try, you can find this in Boots.

Mudmasky Sleep Repair Renewal Nourishing Mask

This is another thing out of a Glossybox. It’s an overnight mask, and I’m a bit on the fence about it.

Some mornings I woke up and my skin was wonderful. Some mornings I woke up and my skin was even drier and crappier than it had been the previous night. A friend of mine joked that whether this worked depended on the phases of the moon and if we’d appeased the gods lately.

I actually do wonder if she wasn’t joking at all.

I know my skin is fickle. Pretty much every post I write about anything to do with my skin is along the lines of ‘I have dry skin, my skin hates me, it just does whatever it feels like’ so this is not a new experience for me.

It is really frustrating that some products don’t work consistently on my skin, though.

I won’t be repurchasing this one because I can’t rely on it. I do have another overnight mask I’m going to try, so hopefully I’ll get better results with that one than this one.

Percy & Reed The Perfect Blow Dry spray

This is one of my all time holy grail products for my hair. I’ve got two more of these stored in my cupboard because I’m so worried they’ll stop making it and it’s the best, most perfect blow dry spray for my hair ever.

I raved about it in this post so head over there if you want a fuller review of it and why it’s marvellous. I will never stop using it, so it probably won’t end up in any more of these ’empties’ posts. I just felt like reminding myself and anyone who reads this post how great it is.

Kueshi Double Effect Makeup Remover

The last product for this empties post, and my least favourite.

At first I was excited to try it, because it was one of those products that you shake to mix, and my favourite Nivea eye makeup remover is one of those.

I had assumed this one would be similar, but no. This one is far inferior to the Nivea one.

Why, you ask, why didn’t you like it?

Oily residue. So much so that I had to wipe my eyes over again with a damp cotton pad to remove the residue. This has never happened to me with any other eye makeup remover ever.

It takes off makeup just fine, but I can’t get over the residue, particularly the further down the bottle I got. It seemed to get oilier as it ran out, and the last usage was mostly just pure oil – or that’s what it felt like to me.

On a positive note, it doesn’t smell weird like some eye makeup removers can, and the little bottle was a good size for travelling. If it hadn’t been so oily, I might have liked it more!

So that’s my April empties. I don’t tend to run through enough stuff to make a decent post every month, but I’ll be doing another empties post later in the year. Let me know what you think about these products if you’ve tried them, readers!

The views in this post are my own and I have not been paid for any of these reviews.
